Sweet, sweet sugar. The stuff of songs, and tenderness, pet names and food cravings. In present, also the stuff contributing to myiad health problems. What is your relationship with sugar? Do you eat it? Do you crave it? Could you not eat it for a day? A week? A month?

I’ve decided to play a little game… I am going to “break-up” from my relationship with sugar! However, I’m not a cold-turkey kinda girl. I tend to jump in and out of things more gradually. I’d like to create new patterns. This isn’t about force of will but rather creating a new lifestyle habit.

My plan is to experiment with a variety of time-frames. First a day. How does that feel? Then a week. A month? Can you ween yourself off this sweet, sweet substance? How would that feel? Have you done it before?

Would you like to join me? The no sweets-no sugar support group? ;D

Prayer for a Creative Life

God, give me the strength to be surrendered, to be open to what the day brings

Give me gratitude and hope and lead me to the places I need to go

Bless my uncertainty with curiosity,

My searching with calm

Bless my action with release

Let my heart be open, my mind clear,

Let my muse be nearby, not always at…

Bless…

Let me see beyond the obvious

And hear the serenade of the present

In the silence of the moment

Let me reach for harmony

Let me learn the melody, and forget nothing

Let me be simple but precise

Let me feel confident and eager

Release me from fear and negativity

Show me the path

And give me the courage to travel it, one day at a time…

Fall Equinox

“This is the harvest home festival, the ingathering time, when we bring in the crops, fill the woodshed and prepare for the cold. Now day and night are equal, and we turn our thoughts again to balance.

Fall Equinox is a time of evaluation. Did we plant enough of the right tings? Did we tend our crops well? Have we nurtured what will truly feed us? How do we preserve our harvest so it can continue to nourish us through hard times?

Above all, this is a time to give thanks, to offer gratitude for what we have, and to remember the balance of all the elements that sustain our lives. Gratitude to the earth, the living soil that grows our food, to the air we breathe, to the sun’s warm rays, to the life-giving rain and the flowing, cleansing waters. Gratitude toward our community, to our family and loved ones, and to all the families of beings that are linked in the web of life.

Gratitude is the counter to greed. If we neglect to say thanks for what we have, we feel eternally dissatisfied, and need more and more. When we are thankful for all we have been given, then we need very little in order to feel surrounded by abundance.

In a just world, everyone would have enough to sustain lives with room for beauty, pleasure, self-expression and love, to restore and regenerate natural systems that provide what we need. May balance be restored!”

Do you take time to retreat, to examine your choices and experiences, to pause and regroup before moving forward?

How might our life be different if we were to take more time to pause, to practice time apart, to acknowledge our grief and to celebrate our many blessings?

What more would be available to you in your life if you were to practice honoring your own unique spirit?

Can you wait patiently and live into the questions?

What are you yearning for?

What are you seeking?

What must you eliminate from your everyday life?

What do you need more of?

Be Still And Listen…

(Inspired by Joan Anderson’s book A Weekend to Change Your Life)

Each day… Every moment… We have choice…

Do you believe that?

Do you choose consciously with awareness or unconsciously by default?

Do you believe your present reality is based upon choices you made in the past? Do you realize your future will be determined by choices you are making right now?

What is your relationship with your choices and actions?

Are you willing to take responsibility for your quality of life?

How can you make more conscious choices today?

My sabbatical is over. I’m still unsure what is next… I am still wrestling with uncomfortable emotions… Yet, I realize its long past time… Long past time for what I ask myself? I’m not so sure, but I am clear that I want to create new realities for myself. I want to break out of my paralysis. It’s time to actually implement the myriad tools I possess. It’s time to step back into the coaching role – to inspire and facilitate quality of life for both me and others. It’s time to step out of my funk and back into passions and power.

What exactly are you going to do with the rest of your life?

Can you answer that question? Do you have an inkling? Are you already doing it?

I’ve noticed themes for myself recently. Now how do I translate these into meaningful days and financial abundance?

How do you show up in your life that you are proud of? What are you doing that inspires you? What are others doing that you feel inspired by?

How can I explain my absence? What words can describe the complexity of my silence? I can only say that I have been one with the Tao – ebbs and flows – ups and more recently downs. My experience this year is that emotions trump intellect. I have all the know how to create a life of excellence and yet I feel swamped by inertia. How do you negotiate with darkness and pain? How do you move past anger and resentment? How do you forgive yourself and others? How do you feed the light within such that your glow emanates once again? I have practiced gentleness. I have retreated into indulgent self-care. I have wept, prayed and written pages in my journal. I have slept, moved and gloried in the many blessings of my life. And still I am paralyzed…
